ASPACI 2000 - Road Safety - Crash Conference

Penrith NSW, 13-17 February 2000

ASPACI 2000 was "the hands on road safety & crash conference". Presenters from around Australia and overseas covered a wide range of issues relating to the investigation and reconstruction of accidents. In addition, conference participants benefited from hands on involvement in proceedings through workshops and team participation in the crash day.

Bathurst 99 - NSW Regional Conference

Mt Panorama, Bathurst 23-25 April 1999

The conference was well attended with 23 participants, including interstate members and some country solicitors.Activities included examination of crashed vehicles, skid testing on steep grades, lamp examination, cameras and photographic techniques, presentation of papers - John Ruller on "ABS Braking" and Rod Vaughan on "Pedestrian Running Speeds". Andrew Brown and John Ruller made a presentation on software: George Bonnet's "Rec-Tec" and Greg Russell's "Pedestrian Formulas for Excel". Andy Mitton demonstrated the use of Pole mounted camera for at scene overhead shots.


Bathurst 98 - NSW Regional Conference

Mt Panorama, Bathurst 3-5 April 1998

The NSW Region of ASPACI held a weekend meeting (conference) at Bathurst in April 1998. This was first country meeting of the group and the first organised field activities since 1993. The conference was based at the Professional Development Centre of Charles Sturt University at the base of Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

The conference was well attended with 25 participants, including some country solicitors. Technical activities included a demonstration of airbag deployment (Bathurst TAFE), inspection of Mount Panorama racing circuit and the Hall of Fame racing museum, tour of the Land Information Centre (mapping, GPS, photogrammetry). Field activities were carried out on the Mount Panorama circuit and in the grounds of Charles Sturt University. These included testing of driver reaction time, brake lag, pedestrian running speeds, and linear measurement equipment comparison. There were also two technical presentations titled 'Computer Simulation of Motor Vehicle Accidents' and '3D Computer Animation of Motor Vehicle Accidents' by Alan and Andrew Brown.
