In the current edition of Momentum (Vol 12 No3) I wrote an article on the Continuing Professional Development proposal currently being considered by the ASPACI Executive, in responce to the descission by members at the 2004 AGM. Your comments are sort (before 30 September 2005) on the proposal.
The Executive has trialled a draft CPD System that is broadly the same
as the system used by the Institution of Engineers, Australia . 13
members participated in the trial, covering a wide range of member
types, occupations, and experience levels. Members were from several States or Territories of Australia as
well as overseas. All participants easily met the proposed CPD
requirements.
As a result of this successful trial, the Executive has decided to let
members comment on the proposal. After considering Member
comments, the Executive will decide if the proposal should be taken any
furter. Ultimately a vote of the full membership will be taken if
the Executive recommends that a CPD system be introduced.
You can download a copy of the Momentum article here and a copy of the CPD Calculator spreadsheet here.
I urge all members to read and consider this proposal and to try entering
real data into the spreadsheet. Please Send you comments by 30 September to aspaci@aspaci.org.au. You can also vote in the on-line Poll (see the RHS of the home page).
The Executive is prticularly interested to here yor comments on:
- any changes you think should be made to the proposal.
- is the CPD proposal too tough or too easy?
- woud the CPD System be of benifit to you ? Why?
- what would make CPD more valuable to you?
- would you (or not) to "opt in" to CPD?
- should CPD be optional or compulsory for members?
