Organisations
around the world carryout crash tests (usually as part of compliance or
safety programs). The data recorded during and after such tests is
useful when reconstructing an accident.

| Australia | New Car Assessment Program
(NCAP)
A consortium of State Road Authorities and Motoring Associations. Test carried out at the Roads and Traffic Authority Crash Lab. NRMA, one partner in NCAP, does have images and consumer information from tests on their web site. NCAP publishes a consumer booklet for each series of tests. Information from early tests were available in a general booklet (Buyers Guide) and a tecnical supplement. The latter included details of the test vehicle (including build date, weight, speed of test and average crush) Availability of crush information from more recent tests not known. Federal Office of Road Safety (FORS)
FORS also maintains a database of Recall
Information for vehicles sold in Australia.

| USA | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA)
Crash tests conducted as part of NCAP, compliance testing and research. These include frontal, front offset, rear and side impacts. A database of crash test data can be found on their web pages. The data files include at least one Australian made vehicle. NHTSA Home page Vehicle Crash Test Database page Download Datafiles here Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) IIHS carries out crashworthiness evaluations, low-speed crash tests, head restraint ratings and other studies. The crashworthiness evaluations includes some information on vehicle deformation (intrusion) but no information on vehicle crush. |

| Canada | Transport Canada
No information of Crash Tests. However, the Canadian Vehicle Specification System (CVS) - a database of vehicle specifications (dimensions) - can be download at the CATAIR site. |

| Japan | National Organization for Automotive
Safety & Victims' Aid (OAS)
(OSA is a Government affiliated organisation) Conducts Safety Performance Comparison Tests on the higher selling vehicles in Japan. These tests include brake performance and frontal collision crashworthiness. Detailed results are available for the brake and crash tests, although these are similar to the standard NCAP published data. Availability of crush information not known. |
