The 2nd Bathurst Conference preceded this meeting and was rated a success by the attendees.

In addition to the above members the conference was attended by Andrew and Margaret Mitton, Gary Hancock, and Brian Mills (South Australia); John and Mrs Ruller (Queensland),  Prof Bill and Lynette Yandell (Uni of NSW), Colin Wingrove, Solicitors - Mike Schwab, Beth Pratley and Rod Blume.

Activities included examination of crashed vehicles, skid testing on steep grades, lamp examination, cameras and photographic techniques, presentation of papers - John Ruller on "ABS Braking " and Rod Vaughan on "Pedestrian Running Speeds".  Andrew Brown and John Ruller  made a presentation re software: George Bonnet's "RecTec" and  Greg Russell's "Pedestrian Formulas for Excel ".  Andy Mitton demonstrated the use of Pole mounted camera for at scene overhead shots.

The proposed staged crash was deferred to a date to be fixed, as Mark George and Egon Meinhardt were overseas.
 

Discussions were held re :

1. professional indemnity insurance
2. new federal court rules re experts
3. field activities for future conferences

Next Meeting:

It was decided that the next meeting would be held in June 1999. Grant Johnston is arranging  for the proposed visit to the Coroner's establishment at Glebe.

The chairman expressed the appreciation of the members to Andrew and Alan Brown in relation to the conference arrangements.

The meeting closed at 12 noon.
