ASPACI 2000 Conference

The ASPACI Conference is a biennial conference that rotates through the major centres of Australia. This is a conference for all practitioners in the field of accident investigation and reconstruction and will provide an opportunity for Police, emergency services personnel, engineers, academics, investigators and legal professionals to share their knowledge and experiences. We know that you will benefit from the intellectual stimulation as well as make and renew friendships with other practitioners.

ASPACI 2000 is "the hands on road safety & crash conference".  Presenters from around Australia and overseas will cover a wide range of issues relating to the investigation and reconstruction of accidents.  In addition, conference participants will benefit from hands on involvement in proceedings through workshops and team participation in the crash day.

The major event at ASPACI 2000 will be our crash day.  This will comprise of three vehicle to vehicle crashes, one crash into Brifen wire rope safety fence (as seen on the M4 Motorway and other major roads), pavement friction testing on freshly laid hotmix and a re-enactment of a pedestrian accident.  The majority of crashes will involve late model vehicles.  The re-enactment relates to a hit and run pedestrian collision that occured in Western Australia during in the early 1960's. The Western Australian Government has recently reopened inquiries into this case. (See Keynote Speakers)

Workshops will be provided to instruct participants in areas relating to accident investigation and reconstruction.  These will include: evidence collection, vehicle identification, photography (including digital photography), surveying (total station and laser), damage analysis, tyre & tyre marks, speed measurement, use of black boxes, lamp examination and friction factor assessment.  Workshops will also allow participants to be involved in the analysis of the crashes.
